A step-by-step guide on choosing wardrobes from The Tresana Collection

The beauty of choosing sliding wardrobes from The Tresana Collection is that they look really stylish but also maximise storage in the available space too!

Unlike conventional freestanding wardrobes, every centimetre of available space can be utilised, so your new fitted sliding wardrobes will not only fit wall-to-wall but also floor to ceiling, even if the overall height of your room is taller than average.

Plus, with clever internal configurations, including shelving, drawers and hanging space, everything you could possibly need to store has a home. In fact, along with your clothes, underwear and shoes, the chances are there will be space to store blankets and throws, bedlinen and even spare pillows, especially in the very highest shelving.

Much like a fitted kitchen or bathroom with storage, it is always best to get a professional from one of our independent showrooms to check your measurements. As specialists in the industry, they know how best to plan the overall layout of your bedroom, and will consider any issues that may arise, long before you commit to a purchase.

That said, if you do have an idea of the style of wardrobes that you’d like, and a rough plan of the room layout, complete with approximate dimensions, this will really help the designer when planning.

Take measurements…

Decide where you want your wardrobes to be located.

Just because your sloping ceiling doesn’t have enough height to allow for freestanding wardrobes, sliding wardrobe doors can be made bespoke to your requirements and the angle of your roof. Take a minimum of three measurements, and note the smallest overall height, but the largest overall width.

Choose the number of doors…

Depending on the overall width of the available space will largely dictate the number of sliding doors that you can opt for.

Any run between 900mm and 1600mm can have two or three doors, between 1600mm and 2000mm, you can choose to have two, three or four doors, between 2000mm and 2800mm, two, three, four or five doors and anything bigger than 2800mm has to have a minimum of three or more sliding doors.

Decide on your door finish combination…

Because all our doors are made exclusively to order, there are literally endless possible combinations and permutations.

You can choose to have plain panelled doors, with or without full mirrored doors, in any number of woodgrain, matte or gloss options. If you prefer, a design detail can be added as either a vertical or horizontal strip, either offset or centralized.

Alternatively, you might prefer to choose a combination of different finishes – it’s totally up to you!

The majority of our independent retail showrooms all carry a set of samples so you can see which finishes you prefer.

Select the door profile framing…

The Tresana Collection currently offers four different framing options, each with a slightly different profile and available in a number of finishes, all selected to complement the door finishes in our range.

Choose any external framing…

To give your sliding wardrobes a distinct appearance, you can opt to frame the entire outer unit in a colour matched or contrasting surround.

Lastly choose your interior storage combinations…

Often overlooked, the internal combinations that you choose will ultimately maximise your overall storage capacity. Full height and double height hanging rails, plus concealed drawer units and extra shelving in hard to reach areas are just some of the interior storage combinations offered.
